Currently, Meijer is looking for a Bakery Team Leader. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for planning and directing team members in the day to day operations of the Bakery Department. Managing Bakery Department operations, recommending changes to inventory and pricing and purchases when needed. Ensuring appropriate service levels at the bakery counter to provide a minimal wait time for customers. Is responsible for the department staff training, assignments and scheduling.
Key responsibilities include:
Responsibility for P&L, achieving sales, labor and margin plans for the department
Reviewing sales goals, supply costs, stockloss/shrink results and goals
Implementing Corporate processes to achieve goals including shrink, margin, profit, sales, labor
Scheduling team members
Ensuring the team is properly hired, staffed and thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and have completed all required training
Promoting succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs for the team
Responsibility for operations, merchandising profitability, processes and overall conditions of the entire Bakery Department
Modeling exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
Communicating the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
Reviewing Customer Survey and customer feedback from previous day or week
Following all food safety policies and practices
Responsibility for ad set compliance, including ad signs
Proper usage of production planner
Promoting a safe work environment
Consistent and reliable attendance required
Other daily tasks as required
High school diploma or its equivalent required
Minimum 2-3 years of related retail experience
Minimum 1 year of management experience
Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Demonstrated ability to prioritize time and manage the time for others
Demonstrated ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
Demonstrated ability to answer customer questions in a clear and service oriented manner
Demonstrated ability to conduct suggestive selling
Demonstrated ability to work safely
